Pharmacogenomics is the whole genome application of pharmacogenetics, which examines the single gene interactions with drugs. By doing so, pharma-cogenomics aims to develop rational means to optimise drug therapy, with respect to the patients’ genotype, to ensure maximum efficacy with minimal adverse effects. Pharmacogenomics combines traditional pharmaceutical sciences such as biochemistry with annotated knowledge of genes, proteins, and single nucleotide polymorphisms. This book gives a theoretical application and tools of pharmacogenomics. It is organised into eight chapters and deals with Pharmacogenomics, Human Genome Project, Biosensor Technology, Nano-technology in Medicine, Microarrays, Bioinformatics and IPR and Health Care. In the last chapter we also discuss the trend in the Drug Researches with special emphasis on drug discovery and drug designing. This book promises to give the reader an insight into the future and the latest information in the field of diagnostics and pharmacogenomics.
